Career
Paths- the educational plan that
prepares students for emerging into technologically
advanced careers. As a
national educational initiative, career
pathways focus on integrating applied academics in
the high school curriculum, giving students the
basic knowledge they need to learn technical
concepts and prepare for technical careers. Career
paths lead to baccalaureate (B.A., B.S.) degrees and
associate (A.A., A.S.) degree options.
These courses use real-life examples
and hands-on activities. The curriculum is built on
an applied academics foundation, with a strong
emphasis in math, science, and communication.
Another component, workplace
learning, allows the student to make a quicker
transition to work with skills that lead to
immediate productivity upon employment.
Through
career exploration programs, Career Path
courses are being introduced to junior high
students. When these students enter high school two
of their options will be to enroll in either College
Prep or a Career Pathway.
